The President of the AEDIDH was invited to give a lecture on the human right to peace within the framework of the annual Human Rights courses organised by the Human Rights Institute of Catalonia in the Hall of the Lawyer Bar Association of Barcelona.
The President of the Institute Mr. Jaume Saura presented the international project before a select audience of professionals and students who follow the quoted course. Mr. Carlos Villán referred to the Luarca Declaration on the Human Right to Peace in general and their background, legal content and the global campaign in particular. The most important milestones in 2010 will be hold a world conference of NGOs in Geneva on the human right to peace and the establishment of a new NGO, the International Observatory on the Human Right to Peace. This international NGO will accompany the consolidation process of a universal declaration on the human right to peace which is expected to begin in 2010 under the UN Human Rights Council and to ensure the implementation of the text adopted at its day by civil society.
