With the support of Unesco Etxea and sponsorship of the three regional governments (the Basque Country, Generalitat of Catalonia and Asturias), the AEDIDH is leading a Global Campaign of three years (2007-2009) of promotion of the human right to peace. This organisation holds conferences and expert meetings on the human right to peace in all regions of the world. The Luarca Declaration is shared with the international civil society in order to enrich this text with the contributions received from the different sensitivities of the world.
Moreover, these initiatives have made available to persons belonging to vulnerable groups in national societies, a useful tool for the vindication of their human rights and the realization of peace. The concept of peace is understood as the absence of any violence and realization of all human rights from a holistic approach.
In this regard, the AEDIDH have already made presentations, conferences and expert meetings on the Luarca Declaration in Spain (Barcelona, Oviedo, Luarca, Navia-Asturias, Madrid, Madrid, Zaragoza, Parliament of Catalonia, Valencia, Bilbao, Cartagena Vitoria-and-Basque Parliament), Europe (Geneva, Feldkirch, Austria, Rome, Turin, Bosco Marengo –Italy-, Paris, Luxembourg), America (Mexico City, Morelia, Monterrey, Bogota, Caracas, Santo Domingo, Santa Fe -United States-, Washington, New York, Montevideo, Buenos Aires and La Plata, Argentina), Africa (Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Dakar, Yaoundé and Johannesburg) and Asia (Gwangju -Republic of Korea- and Bangkok). We will continue to hold expert meetings in all regions of the world until December 2009.
