La declaración de Luarca sobre el derecho humano a la paz Adhierete

The presentation was organized by the City Council of Caso (Asturias, Spain) and the Spanish Society for International Human Rights Law (Luarca, Spain) at the Interpretation Center of the Nature of the Park Natural Network of Caso. The guest speaker was Mr. Carlos Villan Duran, President of the AEDIDH, who has been recently awarded with the Prize Casin of the Year 2009.

It was analysed the concept of peace as an universal value, the raison d'être of the United Nations and a prerequisite and consequence of the enjoyment of human rights by all. It was recognised the holistic concept of peace which goes beyond the strict absence of armed conflicts and is linked to the civil, political, economic, social and cultural development of peoples and individuals as a condition for satisfying the basic needs of human beings, to the elimination of all kinds of violence and to the effective respect for all human rights.
